Chaga: The King of Mushrooms

Chaga: The King of Mushrooms

Grown wild on birch trees in cold climates, including across Canada, Chaga is often called the "King of Mushrooms." It has a long history of use as a tea in Northern Europe, Siberia and among Indigenous communities in North America.

What is Chaga?

Unlike most mushrooms, Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) doesn't look like a mushroom at all. It forms a dark, cracked, charcoal-like mass on the outside of birch trees, with a rusty orange interior. It grows slowly and thrives in harsh northern winters.

How people use it

  • To support immune health, especially through the colder months
  • Anytime of day. Chaga is non-stimulating
  • Daily, as part of an everyday wellness routine
